Sebes Nature Reserve
The River Ebro Guest House is situated close to Sebes Nature Reserve in Flix, Spain. The Reed Beds, Woodland & Flood Meadows support a variety of bird species including Hoopoe, Crested Lark, Bee-Eater, Blue Rock Thrush, Great & Common Reed Warbler, Sardinian Warbler, Little Egret, Marsh Harrier, Grey & Purple Heron, Kingfisher, Black Kite, Mallard, Cormorant, Griffin Vulture,Osprey and the elusive Moorhen to name but a few. The White Stork is being actively encouraged to breed here and it is possibly to get up close and view the chicks in the nest.
Wooden Walkways lead out into the reed beds where hides have been constructed to allow you to get the most from this superb habitat and view bird species in their natural habitat. White Horses from Camargue, France have been introduced to graze the Meadows. Away from the river the landscape turns to rocky slopes with Almond and Olive Groves.
Els Ports National Park
Further a field is Els Ports National Park with an amazing variety of bird species. This mountainous region rises abruptly creating a backdrop to the Ebro Delta. It is home to various species of birds including Eagles and the Griffin Vulture, which can be seen up close at the Vulture Feeding Station. Another common sight is the Spanish Ibex.
Ebro Delta
Further south is the Ebro Delta. Formed by silt carried down by the River Ebro it is now the home for over 300 bird species of both migratory and resident birds.
